Initial operation of Hohhot Metro Line 2

[Xinhua News Agency] On the morning of October 1, Hohhot Metro Line 2 was opened for initial operation, and Inner Mongolia entered the "dual subway era".

The reporter learned from Hohhot Urban Rail Transit Construction Management Co., Ltd. that Hohhot Metro Line 2 started construction in August 2016. The main line is 27.3 kilometers long and has 24 stations. Passengers can transfer to Hohhot Metro Line 1 at Xinhua Square Station.

Since June 5 this year, Hohhot and Beijing have realized the urban rail transit payment interconnection. Hohhot citizens can use the local "Qingcheng Metro" App to scan the code and use the subway when taking Metro Line 1 and Line 2. The "Yitongxing" App used on the Beijing subway line scans the code and rides. At the same time, passengers can also use the "Qingcheng Metro" App to scan codes on the Beijing subway, so as to realize the application scenario of integration of high-speed rail and subway transfers between Hohhot and Beijing, making it convenient for citizens to travel between the two places.

On December 29, 2019, Hohhot Metro Line 1 was officially opened for operation. Inner Mongolia ended its history of no subway and entered the "Metro Era".
